AMONG OTHER THINGS, THE PLAN SEEKS TO REDEVELOP THE EXPANSIVE PARKING LOTS AND UNDERUTILIZED OPEN SPACES AT THE MARINE CORRIDOR, IN MOST PARTS OF THE CORRIDOR THIS SEEMS LIKE IT'S A VERY GOOD IDEA, THE PLAN TELLS US TO ADD AMENITIES AND ACTIVITIES TO EXISTING PARKING LOTS UNDER UTILIZED OPEN SPACES THE MERIDIAN CORRIDOR ZONING REGULATIONS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE CHANGED. MY NEIGHBORS AND I ARE WORRIED THAT THE ZONING REGULATIONS THAT ARE GETTING IN THE WAY OF ADDING ACTIVITIES AND AMENITIES TO THE PARKING LOTS AND OPEN SPACE IS LOCATED ON THE EDGES OF THE MERIDIAN CORRIDOR MAY BE THE REGULATIONS THAT ARE PROTECTING THE LIVABILITY AND CHARACTER OF NEIGHBORHOODS JUST OUTSIDE THE CORRIDOR. THE DECEMBER 15, 2024 CARMEL CURRENT HAD AN ARTICLE ON THE U.S. 31 SUBAREA PLANNING PROCESS AND AFTER DESCRIBING THE EFFORT DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES WOULD MAKE TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITH LANDOWNERS, PROPERTY OWNERS AND EMPLOYERS INSIDE OF THE MERIDIAN CORRIDOR THE ARTICLE WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE CITY ALSO EXPECTS TO HOLD DISCUSSIONS WITH NEARBY RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS. AS FAR AS I KNOW AND I HAVE LIVED, THE MEETINGS WITH NEARBY RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS NEVER TOOK PLACE.

SO I AM ASKING IF CITY COUNCILMEMBERS THAT HAVE CONSTITUENTS LIVING IN AN ADJACENT CORRIDOR , WOULD YOU PLEASE HOLD TOWN HALL MEETINGS TO EXPLAIN THIS PROCESS AND THE IMPLICATIONS OF CHANGING THE MERIDIAN CORRIDOR ZONING REGULATIONS FOR NEARBY NEIGHBORHOODS. CONTINUING TO BUILD OUT STACK FLATS . CIVIC SQUARE CONDOS CONTINUES ITS CONSTRUCTION.
