I WANT TO ADDRESS A CONCERN REGARDING THE GRAMERCY MARKETPLACE DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL. LIVING IN HUNTERS GLEN WAS A DREAM FOR ME NOW THAT I HAVE RETIRED AND LIVE ON A FIXED INCOME. THIS SMALL, SAFE ENCLAVE PROVIDES ME EASY ACCESS TO EVERYTHING I NEED. INDIANA'S POPULATION IS RAPIDLY AGING. THE 2022 CARMEL CENSUS INDICATES APPROXIMATELY 15% OF OUR RESIDENTS ARE OVER 65. THE STATE OF AGING REPORT FOR CENTRAL INDIANA SAYS MORE THAN 20,000 PEOPLE TURN 60 EACH YEAR. A FREQUENT TOPIC RAISED AT LAST YEAR'S MAYORAL TOWN HALLS WAS THE LACK OF OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO CARMEL SENIORS AS THEY PREPARE TO DOWNSIZE AND LOOK FOR SMALLER HOUSING. TO MITIGATE SOME OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL ADVERSE EFFECTS THAT THIS TYPE OF LARGE HOUSING PROJECT WOULD HAVE ON OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS PROJECT SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 650 -- 650 CAR PARKING GARAGE THAT WOULD PERMANENTLY ADD THOUSANDS OF CARS TO AN ARGUABLY HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WHICH IS CARMEL DRIVE. THAT IS ONE OF OUR BIGGEST CONCERNS IN TERMS OF AIR AND NOISE POLLUTION AND FURTHER, LOCATING THE ENTRY AND EXIT TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WHETHER IT BE BY FOOT OR CAR.

IT'S ALREADY PRETTY HARD. AS THE DEVELOPMENT STRETCHES INTO THE GRAMERCY AND OTHER AREAS WE WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR MATURE TREES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARE KEPT INTACT AS THEY ABSORB CO2 AND THEY INTERCEPT SOUND. EXCUSE ME.

THERE WAS A DIVERSE SELECTION OF WILDLIFE THAT WOULD BE DISPLACED SHOULD THE TREES BE CUT DOWN TO MAKE WAY FOR ROADS AND HOMES. I'VE SEEN THE AMAZING THINGS CARMEL CITY HAS DONE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS IN BUILDING THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY AND ALL THE BENEFITS I'VE HAD THERE AS A RESIDENT FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS.

MY CONCERN WITH THE BUILDING IS THAT I FEEL AS AS RESIDENTS ARE GOING TO LACK ACCESS TO OUR HEALTHCARE. RIGHT NOW WHEN YOU GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WE HAVE TO WAIT LONG HOURS IN ORDER TO BE SEEN AT TIMES BECAUSE OF THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITHIN THE EMERGENCY ROOM SYSTEM. AGAIN, THE ROADS RIGHT NOW -- THEY JUST BUILT THIS BEAUTIFUL CULVERS ACROSS FROM US AND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO WALK THERE TO GET ICE CREAM. WE LITERALLY HAVE TO DRIVE TO GET THERE BECAUSE WALKING ACROSS SUCH A STREET , EVEN THE LIGHT WON'T LAST THAT LONG ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE WALKING WITH YOUR DOG.

YOU'RE GOING TO GET HIT. IT'S LIKE PLAYING FROG OR TRYING TO CROSS THE STREET. THE OTHER CONCERN I HAVE IS OUR SCHOOLS .

OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM. OUR SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE TWO STUDENTS IN OUR WONDERFUL CARMEL CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM AND UNFORTUNATELY ALMOST EVERY YEAR WE HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST A WEEK OR SO BEFORE A BUS CAN BE SET UP FOR OUR COMMUNITY DUE TO THE ABUNDANCE. THERE IS A LACK OF BUS DRIVERS , THEREFORE WE HAVE TO EITHER PAY A NEIGHBOR DAILY TO PICK UP AND DROP OFF OR MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE TO TAKE TIME OFF TO TAKE OUR KIDS TO OUR SCHOOLS. OUR CONCERN IS IF THE CITY IS READY TO BUILD THESE BUILDINGS, DO WE HAVE ENOUGH BUS DRIVERS TO GET OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL? ARE THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS LARGE ENOUGH TO HOLD THE STUDENTS AT ONCE? ONE OF OUR BIGGEST CONCERNS IS OUR BACKYARD FACES THE BUCKINGHAM . THE FENCE FACES OR THE DONUT SHOP IS AT. OUR POOL IS THERE.

SO IS OUR CLUBHOUSE. WE WILL NO LONGER HAVE A NICE BACKYARD.

WITH THE CARS TRAVELING ON EAST CARMEL DRIVE AT THE SPEED OF BETWEEN 40 AND 55 MILES AN HOUR AND I DO WITH THIS EVERY DAY , WILL ANYONE TURNING OUT HUNTERS GLEN OR THE PROPOSED PROJECT BE ABLE TO ENTER THE ROADWAY SAFELY? THAT CORRELATES TO A SPEED OF BETWEEN 44 FEET PER SECOND AND 80 FEET PER SECOND.
